July 20th, 2010 at 5:53 amMy Dr. and I just discusses this last week. Not all people who go through that are going through it due to being lazy. I have limited things i can do as of exercise as i was a passenger in a car accident that almost broke my neck. My feet are bad and i can't walk much or use a tread mill.
Dr. talked about this due to trying to help me lower my blood pressure, diabetes, high cholestrol, ect.
I will review all the info here and all the sites you listed and talk to my Dr. again. Thank you Ziggy for your information.

July 20th, 2010 at 6:21 am1) Yes, the National Guard/Reserves takes care of you financially. If you are not deployed the National Guard partially pays health insurance and once deployed, you will receive full coverage for health insurance.
2) Pick an MOS that you would like to do. It all depends on what civilian job you pursue after the military. Honestly any MOS/military experience will be good for a job resume. The GI Bill can also help out with college for your civilian job.
3) There is such a thing as the delayed entry program where if you have a valid reason, (usually an educational reason) the military will allow you to wait up to 1 year until you ship off to basic.
4) PT requirements are rather quite easy before you ship off to BCT. I believe you need to do around 11 sit ups in 2 min., 17 push ups in 2 min., and 1 mile in around 9 minutes. It gets harder in basic but you will get into shape to perform well.
I hope I helped and good luck.

July 21st, 2010 at 4:13 am@EmiTheGreat Sugar is not bad. Refined sugar (sodas, candy, bread, cakes) is super bad. Your brain runs of sugar..
July 21st, 2010 at 4:47 amHi!
I don't have answers to all of your questions, but hopefully i can help a little.
1. Water – it's really hard to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Do you drink other drinks throughout the day (eg tea, coffee, juice)? Drinking liquids such as juice or milk can help to increase your water intake as well as they have high water content and are sometimes much easier to stomach than water. (I know what you mean when you say too much water makes you feel sick!) Try to limit sugary or salty drinks and foods as they may dehydrate you, as well as being unhealthy. Also try and limit tea and coffee intake as they are diuretics and cause fluid loss in the body.
2. Gag reflex – I too have a problem with swallowing tablets. It's horrible. I think part of the problem is psychological, because you become anxious when you don't swallow it the first time and you become convinced that you won't be able to swallow it at all. Make sure to eat your food very slowly and chew it well before you attempt to swallow.
As for your bile/stomach acid reflux, i reccommend trying an antacid after meals to prevent reflux. Reduce drinks like sodas.
If these problem continues, it's probably worth a trip to the doctor as they might be able to prescribe a medication as well as give you advice on your other problems. You may also have an abnormally shaped oesphageus which causes the difficult swallowing, but this is unlikely.
3. Your gas problem is probably caused by the unhealthy snacks you are eating. A diet high in fibre, fruit, grains and vegetables is much less likely to give you gas than one full of fatty, sugary foods. Maybe try finding some healthier snack alternatives like dried fruit and nuts?
Sorry for such a long reply! I hope some of this helps.
July 21st, 2010 at 4:51 amTips really do help if followed right. I hope I can.
July 21st, 2010 at 8:42 ami would sit down before you go and work out a one line fits all response that will answer their questions, and make it clear your not discussing (topic X!)
Examples …
"really, thats interesting."
"Great, ill think about it."
"I really feel thats quite a private question…"
"what do you think?" (this last one is my favourite – especially with Mothers in law – if you ask a question back they will go off on this huuuge raant, because they get so happy about being asked for their opinion, and then you can just change the subject!)
(Mil) – "i think you should start trying for a baby.
(you) -" really, thats interesting."
(Mil) "you should stop working and become a housewife."
(you) – " ill think about it."
(Mil) " is your uterus working yet?"
(you) "i really feel thats quite a personal question, and to be honest its none of your business."
(Mil) " When are you going to give me grandchildren?"
(you) " i dont know … when do you think?"
(Mil) – - – insert ranting here – - –
This way your always prepared for any comment/question/situation. Youll feel more confident knowing your prepared.
Or you could just do what i would do … wait until noone else is around and when they ask you something or make a commend, just respond with something sharp and direct like … "really, whats your problem? Would you say something like that to your mother/sister/friend? No? then dont say it to me" <bitch slap!>
I hate in laws though, there a huuuuuge pain in my ass …
July 21st, 2010 at 10:45 amwhere is the ummmmmmm link?
July 21st, 2010 at 12:13 pmPerhaps being deaf, he feels like he can't mix with the other dogs and because he's less able he is relying on you to be his ears so you are like a hearing dog for him. I know of other dogs that are death and they usually choose another dog from their household (another member of "their pack") who they stay with at all times and who asks as their ears. The fact that he has chosen you as his guide and follows you around, suggests that maybe he isn't confident around your other dogs or isn't communicating with them properly, so he's just following you because signals from you are easiest to read or because you give him a lot of attention so he feels he depends on you to help him and protect him because maybe he sees you as being "leader of the pack"? Perhaps as time goes by he'll get to know they other dogs better and become one of the group, then he'll start following them and use them to find out what's going on. Or maybe it's nothing to do with his deafness and it's just in his nature to be really loyal to you which is probably a good thing especially if he's deaf because if he wasn't attached to you he might prove difficult to control. I don't really know what I'm talking about – these are just my thoughts after meeting other deaf dogs and I hope this helps a bit.
July 21st, 2010 at 2:05 pmGood luck anyway x
I have 3 german shepherds. Love them with all my heart. If you can't find one at the shelter, try a breeder that has both parents on site and don't keep the puppies in a pen.

July 23rd, 2010 at 8:53 amWelcome Back To Life!
July 23rd, 2010 at 12:04 pmThere are many heart monitors out there. Included here is one link to get you started. One of the main things is to set small goals for each thing, weight loss, cutting back on foods, exercise etc. You want to start small and as you acheive each goal, set a a new higher one. This is done so you dont get overwhelmed and give up. It is also boosts the ego when you accomplish these goals you have set. Additionally, it is probably best that while your body adjusts to all the changes youre putting it through, you dont go full bore on the exercise! You really need to see a Doctor so he can advise you on the exercise, check out your heart and maybe give you some healthy eating tips, do a basic blood test. Share with him what youre working on and let him monitor you on ocassion just to be safe. You may want to start with some low impact exercise. Something like swimming if available is very good for you, doesnt cause so much stress on your body especially when you arent used to it. Try walking as many times a week as you can. As each day/week passes and you acheive each daily goal with how far you walk and how fast you walk, increase your goals and push yourself just a little harder. With eating I think it is commendable that you are making such great strides! You may however get discouraged if you dont see as fast results as you would like or you may be too hungry cutting out that much food and go back to eating like before! You dont want to SHOCK your system to severly all at once. Most people may start with just cutting down their portions of food at each meal, but will still go back for seconds. The next step after a week or two they would remain on the cut back portions but eliminate the second servings. The next step they may cut out deserts and find other natural foods to satisfy the sweet cravings. Then one might eliminate sodas and find a different satisfying drink instead. Most importantly, you need to drink LOTS & LOTS of water. Exercise helps you out in many ways! If you start slow and work your way up in your goals, as with the eating, it wont put so much stress on your body! As you shape up, you should notice a change in how you feel physically and MENTALLY. Exercise is good for the soul! It is awesome you are reaching managable levels with anxiety. I have sufferred spells of this to the extreme and I found talking walks and using different routes not only helped with weight but also I would take notice of nature, new business, new homes going in and have a little reprieve of things that kept me emotionally disabled. Quiting smoking was an awesome start! It does cause many to gain weight. But your body is already recovering from the stop of nicotine! I dont know that you necessarily have caused perment damage to yuor body from all these things, but in any respect, you are doing a wonderful thing by trying to get healthy now and certainly may prevent other illnesses in the future because of your efforts. Keep strong. We're rooting for you! I wish I had it in me to do the same right now!
